About the Georgian Vocational Education foundation and Vocational Educational Association of Workers “Piramida”
The Georgian Vocational Education Foundation was established in 2012 as a noncommercial, nongovernmental organization. It was found by the transformation from the Vocational Educational association of Workers - Piramida, existed since 2002. The foundation is the inheritance of the association that aimed to improve the professional studies of the people at the various ages. During the years the association was actively working with: IIZ/DVV, Sectoral Employers Associations, BIBB, GTZ, ILO, JOINT, MASHAV and other international organizations.
The foundation is a member of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It has signed the memorandums of understanding and cooperation with the: Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sectoral Employers Associations, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the highest educational institutes, and etc.. Currently, it unifies 68 theorists and expert practitioners – specialists at the various fields.
In 2003, by the financial support from IIZ/DVV, Adult professional education center was established at the Tbilisi construction Lyceum. Moreover, 3 sector centers were found in collaboration with the different organizations. Currently, by the contribution of the Georgian Beekeeper Union, we have been establishing the specialized educational center. Taking into account the social requirements, by financial support of the IIZ/DVV, by the efforts of scientists and practical specialists, by methodic recommendations of BIBB and ETF, the project about 17 professional educational standards was developed and equalized to the approbation.
Considering the standards, 17 text –books were published by financial support from IIZ/DVV. The teachers and trainers at the special subjects were provided with additional trainings, the consultations were held for farmers. At the vocational educational center, by contribution of employers and local government the educational coursed were provided for the instructors. Further, the prepared instructor was involved in tree month studies of unemployed residents. As a result, 36 master of building work were educated in order to reconstruct the historical part of Borjomi.
By finances of the construction companies Aksisi, Alioni, Algeti, 22 people(4 orphanages, 9 unemployed and 10 beginner employees of these companies) were educated at the adult vocational educational center.
In 2006 – 2008, by the financial support of JOINT – American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the learning courses were provided in 6 professions: since 2007, the foundation has been providing the project: informational, cognitive, creative portal www.education.ge that has already gained more than 1,5 million visitors. The web page helps young people to determine and develop their creative potential, encourages them being not only readers, also creators of their own life. By efforts of experts, hundreds of tests, including psychological and oriented on professionalism, are created.
In 2011-2012, in the whole country the creative-pedagogical online contest Novator was held.
In 2012, the foundation made the project about the vocational educational transformation. The project was presented to the government, and received the positive evaluation by the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Agriculture. By involvement of the various organizations and their finance, 131 learning courses, trainings seminars and group consultations have been conducted. The most of them were held in the regions, and among them 39 were at the adult professional educational centers. In trainings and consultations 2204 listeners and 163 trainers participated; among them were the representatives of business and employers, teachers of the vocational and highest educational centers, specialists of research and scientific institutes
